"Step Brothers" Movie Review

Hi all,

Who loves time off from the everyday grind?  (rhetorical question, or you can talk to yourself)  I do.  I love to have time to run trails, swim, walk my dogs hang out in the coffee shop and just be.  I do, however tend to go "high and right" or "high order" (military/operator slang term for a little pissed off) when that precious free time is fettered away.  I was recently misled by some colleagues on a not so intellectual movie choice.  Now, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy some good old fashion pedestrian humor, but the movie "Step Brothers" is possibly the worst fucking waste of time, piece of shit movie I have ever seen in my life.  I am actually going to have a hard time associating with my friends and coworkers after being directed toward this silver screen fucking joke of a flic.  I mean, if the writers/directors aim was to create a movie that would alienate people from each other's ridiculous movie choice, kudos.

Hope you enjoyed my review of the worst film of all time.

Funny Little Boy

Funny story.  This 4 yo boy's mother told me the funniest story the other night at a dinner party. They (boy and fam) just moved from a larger city to Lubbock where they had had him (little boy) in a Jewish pre-school, even though they were not Jewish.  Anyway they moved to Lubbock for jobs at TTU this summer and put him in an Episcopal school.  The little boy was told the news that he was to be going to an Episcopal school and his response was just so perfect.  The boy asked his mother and father, "How am I going to be Jewish?"

I just had to tell this story, because I have been asking myself that question for a long time now.

"KTXT Asassinated by Domestic Terrorist Group"

When I heard the news yesterday, my response was similar to that of being attacked by terrorists.  "KTXT goes off the air" says the Daily Toreador.  More like, KTXT blown to bits by I.E.D. today.  Who in the hell are these people.  That station has been a cornerstone, for me at least, since the early 80's.  It just seemed short sighted.  I would imagine that a fund raiser would have pulled them through if the listeners and the staff for that matter would have had more that half a days notice.  But ya know, it really fits in this disposable cut throat world we live in.  Kudos to you fuckers for yanking yet another piece of nostalgia from Tech.  Maybe you can buy a new f'n goal post or box seat with the extra cash.

The joking racist

Ok, pet peeve time.  My favorite kinds of racists are the joking ones.  The ones that try to cover it by trying to show you how they can be comfortable joking about your race/religion right at you.  You know these funny people, they are freaking everywhere.  It's funny the first time, but holy shit man, give it a rest.  I hate whitie.

Freaking Snoozer

Have you ever been so bored you can't even write about what you were bored about?  I can sum it up in two words, THANKSGIVING 08.

Characters

You may have figured out by now that I am a bit of a Star Wars fan. My brother is openly geeked out as well. Anyway, a few years ago, we made a comparison and contrast between our mom and her mother (our grandmother) and Darth Vadar and the Emperor respectfully. As in the Star Wars saga the Emperor controls Vadar even though he may not like it or even be aware of it. This struggle rings true with Vadar's and the Emperor's twins.

Just this morning Vadar tried using one of the most subtle yet very powerful assets in her arsenal. Jewish mom guilt.
(phone call)
Me: "Ice ice baby", remember that song?
Vadar: Huh???
Me: You know, "ice ice..." Vanilla Ice from the 80's" (actually released in 1990)
Vadar: No, don't know what you are talking about.
Me: Were you alive in the 80's?
(get ready, here it comes)
Vadar: You remember, I was married to your father. (POW!!!!)

I love her sooo much.

Shout Out

Just a quick shout out to my friends who are running the Iron Man Arizona today.  To Tim, Karl, Greg, Wade and David, best of luck.  Especially to Karl, this will be his first full Iron Man.  As you cover many painful miles by swimming, biking and running, I am relaxing here on my comfy bed writing this blog.  I would rather be covering the miles.  See ya back at the home base.

Shadow Walkers

My familiars and I went for a shadow walk today around the patch.  This is a cool little trick you can do once you have mastered the art.  It was cool and mysterious, but most of all, no one sees you poop in their yard.  We glided along smelling every nut, bush, sign, and other disgusting objects along the way and were seen only in silhouette.

Finally able to Run

My time has been shortened this week, so getting in the miles of running that it takes to keep me sane has been a bit tricky.  I have been battling the Dark side, as of late, and really needed this weekend to run/decompress.
The cold did not seem to matter this morning as I stepped off for a 1hr tempo run.  I did run to an indoor track at the university for the majority of the run though.  Not to crowded on a Saturday morning in a college town when it comes to the university indoor running track.   Will have a good post tomorrow following the Toys for Tots motorcycle run.

Stories from the front (Ho Wisdom)

Writing to you today after battling evil for the last two nights. The cold is here, but it has not kept the oldest profession in the world from thriving. Lesson to all you padawan learners out there, "A ho can pass on valuable information". Not only are they a well spring of information on the underbelly of crime, but they are good for medical advice as well. Just last night I was informed that menthol cigarettes are good for a dry throat. WOW, no more warm beverages for me on a cold winter night, just a pack of menthols please.

Ich Morning Training

Being a Jedi is hard, just ask Susan, who happens to be the only being following my blog.  I just had three very delicious whole grain waffles, and am about to go do some morning training.  I haven't had waffles like that since...

At last

Throttling up this morning to do some blogging at one of my favorite off-post caffeine ports.  No Tusken Raiders this morning while en-route, thank God, I am tired of having to repair the damage.  I did almost get taken out by a 85 year old lady in a blue Crown Vic though.  I think that further investigation will show that she is working with the Tuskens; most of them are.
          or
I did happen to get some decent pics of my two geriatric fur balls of love before I lifted off.  OB doing his morning yoga, and Muttley in her bunker since we beat her so much.

Young at Heart

I was just looking at my dog and decided I just had to add this photo of my 12+ year old Aussie named OB. The force is strong with him. He is much younger in this pic. I will post some of the old man later.

First Post

Morning all.  I must say that even though I am a self professed Jedi, I am not feeling the force flowing this morning.  In fact, it is ebbing a bit today.  I will meditate on this and get with the program after I finish watching Al in Iceland on the "Today Show".
